Minister of Health Lays Foundation Stone for Al-Rumaitha General Hospital with a Capacity of 200 Beds in Al-Muthanna Governorate

The Minister of Health, Professor Dr. Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, laid the foundation stone today, Wednesday, May 6, 2026, for the Al-Rumaitha General Hospital project in Al Muthanna Governorate, in the presence of the Governor of Al-Muthanna, Mr. Muhannad Al-Atabi, the Ministry’s Administrative Undersecretary Dr. Khamees Al-Saad, the Director General of the Projects and Engineering Services Department Dr. Eng. Hossam Alwan, the Director General of Al-Muthanna Health Directorate Dr. Mazin Majid Al-Akeeli, the Mayor of Al-Rumaitha District Mr. Jasim Al-Hassani, a number of Provincial Council members, senior staff of the department, and representatives of the executing company.

The Minister affirmed that the project is one of the Ministry of Health’s strategic investment projects aimed at strengthening the healthcare sector’s infrastructure. The hospital has a design capacity of 200 beds, while the total operational capacity reaches approximately 246 beds, contributing to improving healthcare services in the governorate and expanding the capacity of healthcare institutions.

He explained that the project is being implemented by AKG Engineering Company of the UAE on a site area of 90,000 square meters, with a total built-up area of 43,000 square meters. The hospital consists of a seven-story main building accommodating various medical specialties, including emergency, operating theaters, intensive care units, laboratories, radiology departments, and inpatient wards.

He added that the project includes advanced specialized departments such as Intensive Care Units (ICU), Coronary Care Units (CCU), maternity wards, dialysis units, isolation units, and recovery wards, in addition to a fully integrated support services system that includes an oxygen station, medical gas systems, and medical waste treatment facilities.

The Minister further noted that the project also includes residential facilities for doctors, a helipad, a service tunnel, a fully integrated security system, landscaped green areas, and parking facilities, in line with the latest international standards for the design and construction of healthcare institutions, thereby enhancing the quality of medical services provided to citizens.
